For me backward bending is always a clear indicator of how open and honest I am with myself on a physiological level. If I have any looming stresses or unresolved situations, I find backward bending to be a task that I have to really work at. Whereas, if I’ve come to terms with the challenges before me and faced up to the uncomfortable situations, my body in turn feels much more open and agile.
They say if you smile when you’re sad, your brain chemistry will begin to “trick you” into feeling happy.
I can only speak from personal experience, but slow, even and steady backward bending exercises when I’m stressed out and it’s uncomfortable makes me feel as though a weight has been lifted from my chest 💫
